Give Time: Volunteer with AART

Volunteers aren’t just helpful —they’re essential. Our classrooms simply couldn’t function without the caring individuals who give their time to support our students.

Volunteers bring energy, encouragement, and extra hands that help children build confidence, learn new skills, and feel seen Whether working one-on-one with a child, leading an activity, or helping at a community event, your time has a direct and lasting impact.

Volunteer in the Classroom

Our teaching teams and students thrive with extra support and encouragement from our volunteers. Our twice-weekly, 2-hour classes operate in donated community spaces around the Northern Virginia area.

Setting up the room for class
Encouraging group play and positive interactions
One-on-one reading time
Giving love, encouragement, and confidence to young learners
Supporting learning centers
…and so much more!

We welcome individuals, families, student groups, corporate teams, and local volunteer organizations. Whether you’re a teen earning service hours or a retiree looking to give back, your time matters.

Volunteer Spotlight

I volunteered at All Ages Read Together over the summer, which truly changed my whole perspective on life. The little boy [who] … did not know how to hold his pencil, write his name, or speak English. On the last day of the class, this boy wrote his name himself with no assistance, looked up at me and said, “mira escribí mi nombre” (Look! I wrote my name) … I volunteered so that I could serve others, but I was actually the one who was blessed.”
